Somaliland Ministry of Livestock and Marine Resources Participates in Fisheries Co-management Training
In Hargeisa, Secure Fisheries led a co-management training for staff of the Somaliland Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development. Government stakeholders play a central role in co-management -- developing agreements between local fishing collectives to share fisheries management authority and responsibility.Secure Fisheries provided background on the fisheries co-management concept and processes. Participants agreed that co-management is a viable solution for the challenges faced by the fisheries sector and the workshop received strong support from the Somaliland government.
